What are the primary duties of a locksmith?
Locksmiths specialize in the installation and ongoing maintenance of security systems, keys, and locks of all varieties. Locksmiths will repair broken locks, cut keys for landlords, tenants, and employees, and help individuals who’ve been locked out of their residence.
How often should I rekey my locks?
For both commercial and residential properties, it is advised that locks be changed once every several years at the least. For commercial property owners or business owners, this ensures that those many keys distributed amongst staff and visitors are void after they leave your company. Rekeyed locks will give you a clean slate, and you will know exactly who has the newly cut keys and who does not.
Should I rekey the locks on my newly purchased home, or replace the locks?
In the interest of saving you money, we suggest only replacing the locks if the locks fail to operate correctly. If you are unsure of the condition of the lock, we invite you to contact our locksmiths. If we determine that the lock is fully functional, we can rekey it on your behalf.
Are electronic and touch pad locks more secure than conventional locks?
Most digital keypad locks are nothing more than conventional key locks with the additional features provided by the touch pad (automatic locking, time codes, and so on). These types of locks are no safer than the everyday door lock. The strength and reliability of your lock largely depends on the integrity of your locksmith.
Are alarm systems more important than locks?
Alarm systems are a great addition to any home or business, but they will not stop individuals from accessing your home without permission. The only way to be sure no one opens your door without authorization is to invest in locks.
What grade of door lock is considered safest?
For those who want extremely strong locks, we recommend a high-security Schlage deadbolt lock. These strong and long-lasting locks provide an extra layer of security to any home or business.
Can a broken lock be fixed?
Some locks are beyond repair, while others might only need a handful of small repairs to function again. Our locksmiths can always tell you when to repair or replace your locks.
What are your preferred methods of payment?
We accept cash, debit, and most major credit cards.
